Video Transcript for Pro Series Trailer Jack - A-Frame Jack - PS1401000303 Review

Today, were going to review part number PS1401000303. This is the Pro Series Round, A-Frame Topwind Jack. This has a lift capacity of 2,000 pounds. This standard A-Frame Jack would make a good utility jack which is perfect for agricultural and commercial applications. It does use precision-fit parts which will provide exceptional stability and reliability. It does have a triangular-mounting bracket right here, which was made to fit any standard A-Frame trailer.

It can be welded on or using the three elongated holes, it can also be bolted on. Now, the distance between these holes from the center to the center of each hole is 3 inches and that is the industry standard. So, normally if a trailer has an A-Frame jack with the three holes in it, they should be at the 3-inch industry standard. The outer and the inner tubes have a black paint finish. The topwind handle which is right here at the top of the jack has a smooth ergonomic design for easy cranking.

This jack does not come with any base assembly. That is sold separately. You would have a choice of a footplate or a wheel caster assembly. I do want to give you a few dimensions on this. The clearance which is the measurement from the mounting bracket to the top of the jack on this one would be 16 inches.

Now, this jack is in the fully retracted position, so the measurement from the bottom of the tube to the mounting bracket in the fully retracted position would be 5-1/2 inches. Now, if we crank that all the way out -- to save time I have one here already extended out. This jack is in the fully extended position, so that measurement would be 20-1/2 inches. Basically, this jack would have a lift of 15 inches which is basically the retracted dimension of 5-1/2 subtracted from the extended dimension of 20-1/2 to give you a lift of 15. The inner tubing, this part right here, is a 2-inch diameter tubing.

The outer tubing is 2-1/4 inch diameter, and again this has a lift capacity of 2,000 pounds. It has a limited one-year warranty. I just wanted to give you an example of a few of the base assemblies that you can purchase separately that would work on this. The first one is a footplate, which would be part number PS1400700340. Basically, you take the pin and clip out and align the holes in the inner tube with the holes in the footplate. You go ahead and run the pin through, lock it on with the clip and you would have a footplate on this jack. Now, the other base you could put on this, if you want to make it a mobile base, would be a wheel caster assembly, which is this part right here, again, sold separately would be PS1400750340. It attaches the same way. You remove the pin and clip, align the holes with the holes in the inner tube, put the pin through, put the safety clip on and now you would have a jack with a wheel caster assembly on the bottom of it. Again, that should do it for the review on part number PS1401000303.

The perfect jack for low clearance trailers! I had trouble finding a jack for my bumper pull horse trailer that wouldn't drag the ground pulling into gas stations, parking lots, etc. I looked at all the farm and home stores in my area with no luck. I thought maybe it didn't exist...then I found etrailer. The short extension below the mount on this jack was exactly what I needed! When fully retracted, it extends no lower than the hitch. I gained five inches from the previous jack. Great peace of mind when traveling and much less worry about dragging when I need all the clearance I can get! Thanks etrailer...and the video was excellent in helping me make sure I was getting what I wanted!

Nice addition to my trailer. I spent a lot of time looking for a jack with a short "hang down " distance from the frame to the ground. This one is perfect. The trailer rides low and will bottom out without a short "hang down".

Still working as it should. I did have to replace the red knob on the crank. I just disappeared at the end of a trip. I found a replacement at [local retail store]. Other than that, it has performed flawlessly thru a pretty tough winter.

by:

Great HD jack for my trailer. Really like the top crank handle.

by:

Received the jack today. Installed the jack today. That process went as expected. I was able to reuse the castor and footplate from the precious RAM jack - saved some money there. The handle operates very smoothly. The 5-1/2" Retracted bracket height going to be a big improvement.

by:

An Excellent Choice! The short retracted extension of the PS1401000303 makes this A-frame jack a perfect aftermarket upgrade to replace bumper-pull trailer OEM jacks that eventually become "ground-whacked" when pulling through road or trail dips. The ranch has twice replaced this trailer's longer extension OEM jacks, but we're confident the new Pro Series jack design will make this "third time a charm" in replacement performance! It's a quality built product at a very good price.

by:

I needed a jack that when fully retracted would set the foot closer to the mount than the one that came with the trailer, because my drive has a upward slope and the jack would drag. This jack retracts at least 4 inches more than the stock jack, so should clear the pavement. The movement is smooth and easy to operate, although it does take a bit longer to bring up or down. The mounting holes are a bit larger than the holes in the stock unit, but heavy washers allowed use of the stock mounting bolts. Removal of the old unit and installation of this one took about 10 minutes. Because of the slope of the drive, I need to use blocks under the jack to allow me to get the hitch ball under the trailer hitch, but I had to do that with the old jack. Etrailer upgraded the shipping from what I ordered and at that the order arrived a day earlier than they estimated. All in all, I am pleased with the product and with the purchasing experience from etrailer.

by:

This jack seems nice and well built. It replaced an old top wind jack that got hung up in a road transition. This jack sucks up to the bottom of the trailer tighter and sticks up a little higher on top to clear my toolbox. The old jack was welded on, so I had to cut it off and bolt this one on after drilling holes. Has standard 3" bolt hole spacing and uses the industry standard 3/8 bolts.

by:

I ordered this jack because I have a tongue box on the trailer and needed a jack with enough clearance (used to have an electric jack but that died). Installed this jack today and am very pleased with it, I find the top wind easier to use than the side wind ones.

by:

This is exactly what I needed. My problem was my flip up jack didn't go down low enough to allow the trailer tongue to reach the ball on my 4 wheeler (that I use to transit our trailer from storage). Service and contact from etrailer was superb!

Thanks guys.

by:

Use this jack all the time

by:

Appears to be very beefy construction. Paint and overall appearance is nice. The short retracted height of this jack make it ideal for low hitch/low tongue situations like mine. Excellent price, though I can't say the same about shipping. What I love about etrailer is that they provide the pertinent measurements to see if you have adequate clearance and proper extension for your application. Many of those other stores that sell trailer parts appear to have no clue what they are selling, and that has to be frustrating to consumers who think these are a "standard size." Of course, they're not.

As great now as it was on day 1. Youll love this tongue jack!

by:

Super fast shipping! This jack is perfect for my low hauler

by:

I ordered this trailer jack because it has a tall clearance. I have a tongue box for my cargo trailer and I could not install it with the factory jack. This jack still has a couple of inches of overlap with the box, but the handle is designed in such a way that it can work cleanly. The only problem is that the outer shell of the jack needed to be about a quarter inch longer at the bottom to clear the bottom plate. But it still works fine.

4/15/2015

One year later, I have no complaints. The jack is still working fine.

by:

Install took 15 minutes. This Jack is allot heftier than the oem Jack. I want to say that I thank George at etrailer, he upgraded my shipping to 3 day at no charge to me. Now that is what I call great customer service!
Thank you George. I'll be buying all of my needs for my trailer from etrailer.com.

Yep, still using them. Both are great. Just sold my pop up camper last weekend and am looking for a larger trailer. Honestly, here in the area around Denver the trailer sales people and companies are very dishonest, and shady characters.

by:

Just put it on. Seems fine.
Won't
know if it holds up until it's been there for a while, but the etrailer's site begged for a review, so here is a review.

It's the right size. It installed fine and it looks good.
Have no idea how long it will last. Hopefully a long time.

Still working fine a year later

by:

This is the jack that I replaced my OEM jack. It has a much shorter retracted length and doesn't have clearance issues when traveling. Once I park, I add the detachable 6 inch foot to make up the length. It works smoothly and easily and the top wind seems easier/faster to use than the original side winder.

6/14/2017

WORKING PERFECT!

by:

Bought this jack as a replacement for one that was damaged when it bottomed out on a dip in the pavement coming out of a gas station. The extra 2 inches of clearance on the bottom end should keep that from happening again. The jack arrived in good condition and installed in less than 10 minutes. Haven't been out on the road with it yet but so far so good!

Bobt

After a years use, the jack is still functioning well. No more encounters with the road causing damage.

Great products, easy transaction, fast shipping. Also purchased swivel wheel and two fenders for this project! Will send picture of home build utility trailer when completed. Thanks again, Allen

The trailer project was completed and the jackwheel assembly works great. You had a very good competitive pricing on both items. Thanks again!

by:

My original trailer jack hung down so low, i bent it on the way home from buying the trailer new, then a half a dozen more times in the next month or so.

This jack lifts the foot up well out of harms way. A year later and an abnormally high amount of urban driving where this stuff tends to go wrong...I haven't bumped or bent it yet!
On the flip side, with biased up so high, it's easy to run out of jack travel when unhitching on uneven ground. I always just use a 3x3" fence post off-cut under the jack foot.

by:

My tent trailer needed a new jack a LONG time ago and I finally installed this one last year. This jack operates smooth and easily. I also bought a wheel to go on it so I can push the little tent trailer around in tight camp sites. I had to grind a bit of the edge of the mounting plate down to get it to fit on the tongue of my trailer. No big deal since I have the tools (and a bit of black paint) but I'm sure this wouldn't be needed on most trailers. Great product and customer service!

by:

Seems like a well built/well designed jack. Quality of workmanship and finish seem great. Solid handle/solid construction. Haven't installed it yet so can't comment on durability but seems to operate as expected.

Keith W.

Yes, Im very happy with the jack, it works well for our design. I was curious if you had a similar model jack but one that offers a greater lift height 16-18? It seems most jacks of this style cutoff at 15 lift.

Thanks for the follow up Keith. I have provided a link to another trailer jack that has a different design that offers up to 27-1/2 inches of lift # 322-RDJ-2K. Other than that yes most of our other jacks to max out at about 15 inches of lift for the 2,000 pound capacity and topwind style.

Easy install and smooth turning. My old one's handle broke and it had been quite "jerky" for some time. This jack is far superior to what I had on my old 10' enclosed Haulmark.

Andy B.

11/1/2017

Still working flawlessly. Definitely a quality product.

by:

This is a good trailer jack for vehicles that have a low slung tow bar (like my 2006 Honda Odyssey). It retracts to about 5 1/2" from the base of the jack. The jack stand that came with my Riverside Retro 166 trailer did not retract as much and hit the ground coming out of normal slope driveways. Also, because this jack is about 15 1/2" high, vehicles with hatchback doors (like my Odyssey) may hit the top of the jack - mine clears it by 1/4".
My only complaint is that the workmanship was a little sloppy, but it did what I needed it to do.

by:

I placed my order on July 3 knowing that it was a Holiday weekend. I immediately received an email confirmation and shipping date for my merchandise. UPS delivered the order on the following Wednesday. Everything arrived in good order and is working perfect. I am extremely happy and satisfied with the product and service. Thank you again.

Since I'm not entirely sure where the squeaking is coming from on your # PS1401000303, I would say start by following the maintenance in the manual. Since this is a topwind jack you want to apply a lightweight oil to the screw stem on the top. Adding grease is not a part of the maintenance for topwind models.
